Presuppositional Apologetics

Articles coving the methodology of defending the faith.

On the Origin of Articles

Articles are not written by people. They are the result of chance. Every intelligent person knows it. There might be some people who want you to think that articles are written by people. But this view is totally unscientific. After all, we cannot see the person who allegedly wrote the article. We cannot detect him or her in any way. The claim that this article has an author cannot be empirically verified, and therefore it must be rejected.

Evolution vs. Science

Evolution is fundamentally incompatible with the scientific method. That is, if neo-Darwinian evolution is true, then there would be no rational basis for trusting in scientific procedures. Conversely, if science is a reliable tool for understanding how the universe works, then particles-to-people evolution cannot be true.

Are You Epistemologically Self-Conscious?

Epistemology is the study of knowledge – how we know what we know. When a person has a belief, it is reasonable to ask the person “how do you know this?”

Biblical Epistemology

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction” (Proverbs 1:7). The fact that knowledge begins with God and that everyone has some degree of knowledge can be used in apologetics to expose the unbeliever’s suppressed knowledge of God. The argument is powerful and irrefutable. But what exactly is knowledge?

Deep Time – the god of our Age

Throughout history, human beings have had the tendency to reject their Creator, and replace Him in their lives with gods of their own making.

The Chain of Reasoning

Knowledge begins with God (Proverbs 1:7). But what is the mechanism by which we reason to have knowledge of other things? How does our knowledge that the “sun is bright” depend on revelation from God? By what chain of reasoning are we able to know anything about anything? How do we prove our most basic, foundational belief?

The Ultimate Standard

We previously covered the Münchhausen trilemma: an argument that knowledge is impossible because it can never be ultimately justified. Any (true) belief must be based on a good reason in order to be considered knowledge. But the reason is only good if it also is based on a good reason, which is based on a good reason and so on.

William Lane Craig on Genesis

Our critic this week is Dr. William Lane Craig, a philosophy professor and Christian apologist. Although Craig defends Scripture in some areas, he adamantly denies literal (6-day) creation in favor of the big bang and secular timescale.

Science vs. Pseudoscience

Evolutionists sometimes call biblical creation a pseudoscience. Is such a claim defensible? Could it be that evolution is in fact pseudoscience while creation makes science possible?

Evolutionist Math

You have probably heard of evolutionary biologists – those who study biology from the perspective of Darwinism. And you have probably heard of evolutionary geologists, or evolutionary astronomers – those who study their respective disciplines from secular assumptions of origins. But have you ever heard of evolutionary mathematics? What would that even mean?

What Does “Day” Mean?

Todd and Craig had been exploring and mapping the wilderness for some time when they decided to split up to cover more ground. “You head to the north, and I will explore the south,” said Todd. “We’ll meet back at the campsite in two days.” Craig gave an affirmative nod and headed north. After two days of successful exploration, Todd returned to the campsite on schedule. But Craig was nowhere to be found. Perhaps he had been delayed.
